End of the year – Writing and poetry

End of the year,
the end of time,
a time filled with bitterness,
and a time of fear,
a time of sorrow,
and a time of goodbyes to those who have died,
those unlucky many,
the many who struggled and fought so valiantly to survive,
COVID-19,
a nightmare of the 21st century,
a nightmare that preyed on the weak and the strong,
a nightmare that far too often killed our loved ones, often in the blink of an eye.
